Adopted from the Peninsula Humane Society in San Mateo, CA. We give him lots of toys, and he loves to hunt for insects in our house - that is why we call him "Maximus - the gladiator cat". Max, in spite of his scary name, is the most gentle cat I have ver met. We are lucky to have found him!

Fluffy

Fluffy was found two years ago with a puncture wound in her shell. When we took her to the vet, they took an x-ray of her and determined that she had survived a vicious attack (probably a badger) that punctured her left lung and broken her spine. She had surgery to correct these problems, and we gave her antibiotics for 30 days (ever tried giving injections to a turtle?!) and she is now FULLY RECOVERED!! Fluffy is a very social turtle and likes to eat snails from your hand (yuck!). The pink stuff on her back is dental acrylic left over from her operation which the vet says will eventually come off after the shell has healed itself. Fluffy is about 5 years old, and now that she's had her operation, can live for another 60 to 70 years!
